The Honourable Bob Rae will be the featured speaker. As the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Myanmar, Mr. Rae wrote a Report last year regarding the Rohingya crisis.
Ti-Anna Wang will also be joining us as she and Mr. Rae address the topic: Human Rights Abuses – What can government and individuals do? Ti-Anna has been advocating for the release of her father, one of China’s oldest political prisoners serving a life sentence for his pro-democracy activism. Earlier this year she was issued a visa to visit her father but was then denied entry and forced to return to Canada without seeing him.
The evening includes a silent auction, featuring items such as: Stratford Festival theatre tickets, Buddies in Bad Times season passes, Toronto Maple Leaf tickets, a complete set of signed novels by best-selling author Terry Fallis, and much more.
