Four smiling people wearing Amnesty International shirts march in the Toronto Pride Parade holding a banner that reads 'Human rights are my pride. Amnesty International". People march behind them hold signs that read "My door is open for refugees. Amnesty International".

Pride Toronto 2018 will soon be here and Amnesty International Toronto will be participating again this year. The Pride Parade will be on Sunday, June 24th. The theme will be “Love is not a Crime”.

We ask that you wear your black “Human Rights Defender” T-Shirts from last year (or the very limited Pride T-Shirts in black). If you don’t own one, let us know before hand so that we can provide one. We also ask that you pair this with black or dark coloured shorts or pants. This is because the Parade will work as a memorial to the victims of the serial killer which occurred in the past couple years. As always, sunscreen and lots of water will be a good idea.

Let us know if you want to carry a specific banner. Prepare for an empowering and exciting march. The focus on human rights is an important part of Pride and we really appreciate your help in reminding the world of the rights and dignities that should be afforded to all people. It is a time to celebrate diversity while recognizing that there are many steps still needed.

Please email George Harvey at gharveyamnesty@gmail.com if you’re interested in taking part in Amnesty International Toronto at Toronto Pride this year! Thanks!
