Rathika Sitsabaiesan, MP (Scarborough Rouge River) is hosting the showing of a documentary film “The Truth That Wasn't There” and a discussion stimulated by the film initiated by John Argue, Amnesty International Canada's co-ordinator for Sri Lanka, and herself, about the challenges for Sri Lanka after the conclusion of the armed conflict there in May 2009.

The event will take place at Tom Longboat Elementary School at 37 Crow Trail in Scarborough on Thursday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m.

Join Amnesty International Iran Action Circle in a silent demonstration to remember the courage of peaceful Iranian protestors who took to the streets following the disputed election of June 12, 2009 and the many others who still face grave human rights abuses in the country.

On Sunday June 10 we will highlight the stories of 12 individuals from faceless thousands who are detained in Iranian jails: mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, youth, lawyers, journalists, trade unionists, members of minority groups. Behind each story, several others who suffer the same fate.
